University Of California Collective Bargaining Agreements

At its March 2016 meeting, the UC Board of Regents approved a new retirement program for future UC employees as part of a broader drive to preserve the university`s excellence and maintain its long-term financial health. The UC Retirement Choice Program came into effect on July 1, 2016 for new eligible employees. Depending on the title code of a position, employees are either covered by the policy (not only by a bargaining unit (union), or by a Union. Each Union has a collective agreement with the university that governs the conditions of employment of the workers represented. The Officer Personnel Policy (PPSM) is a system-wide policy, published by the Office of the President. The KKSM applies to all employees whose positions are not otherwise governed by a collective agreement. UCLA has adopted local procedures, which are published by the Offices of the Clerk and the Attorney General`s Office and apply to all units under UCLA jurisdiction. The University of California is working hard to establish industrial relations and negotiate fair agreements with the 15 unions representing more than 77,000 employees. The UC has entered into agreements with several unions to accept the retirement choice program, as outlined by the regents. Uc will negotiate in good faith with other unions. Pending the completion of the bargaining process, members of other unions are covered by the provisions of their existing retirement employment contracts.
